Lifting the Shroud on Wine Delivery

Plenty of people have ordered wine over the internet in the past, whether its through online stores or wine auction houses. Some people wonder what it had to go through to get to their door step.

Everything moves into gear as soon as your order and payment are received by the company.

The first step is the printing of your order and having it run through the checking process. This is simply some checks to ensure that the company has it in stock and that the wine has been approved for commercial sale.

When your order passes this check, it is then given to the warehouse staff who will get to work locating your wines and fulfilling your order. Once complete, your wines are then packed into a delivery pack, specially designed to prevent breakage and movement while maintaining freshness.

The order is then put into the delivery network, where a number of delivery partners pick up all the packages to be delivered to their designated areas. This usually occurs within hours, but can be longer depending of the amount of orders and if there is a backlog or the wine is out of stock.

It will start its journey by raod and if in the same country, will finish it by road as well.  If its an international order, your order will go to either the airport or shipping port. A lot of the time which one it goes to will be determined by the amount of shipping paid on the order.

Here is where the longest part of transportation can actually take. Packages going through the airport can take a while for processing. With air delivery being the fastest available option, many people choose to use this method. With so many parcels going via air, there is usually a backlog at the airport which will add a few days onto delivery.

For shipping, your order will not usually sit in port long, ships can carry much more cargo, however it’s the trip that takes the longest, which will usually be a couple of weeks.

Once its hit your shores it is then taken to a warehouse for processing. Sorting takes typically one to two days and is then loaded into trucks and vans for delivery.
